Uncovering Your Health Blind Spots: What Are You Missing?

Did you know that there is a blind-spot for many practitioners that makes all the difference in your results?

This missing piece is one that doesn’t require you to spend hours exercising, or learning a new skill. It doesn't have you having to grit your teeth and power through with sheer will power and perseverance. The missing piece is releasing stuck emotions that are the driving force behind your health concerns in the first place. 

 

How are you addressing the unconscious drivers of behaviour?

You can have an amazing treatment plan, put together by a practitioner or by yourself, tailored exactly to you, but this doesn't mean you will follow it, or even find success if you do. This comes back to the unconscious drivers behind your behaviour and choices.

Your unconscious mind drives your thoughts, feelings, belief systems, stress, even your emotional patterns. But this is something you won’t see directly – you’ll only see the results of these through your behaviour.

Unfortunately, these drivers can play a massive role in unresolved health issues. The beliefs, stress and trauma that you experience throughout your life can feed into a pattern of self-sabotage, physical symptoms and disease and other health issues.

The important thing to understand is that your unconscious and your nervous system are not actually trying to hurt you. In fact, they are designed to help and protect you. But they can work against what you truly want – to overcome illness, to feel healthy, to increase energy, to decrease stress, whatever your health goal may be.

 

How can this show up in your life?

There’s a good chance that you’re familiar with the signs of sabotage in others, although you might not realise that is what’s going on for you! Some of the most common signs that I see include:

  • Weight loss struggles – unable to stick to food plan, give up unhealthy habits or be consistent with exercise
  • Consistently failing to take supplements, even when they are adapted to the daily routine
  • Eating foods that you know are triggering your symptoms e.g. gluten or dairy
  • Feeling exhausted but still choosing to scroll through social media until late at night
  • Drinking multiple cups of coffee even though you know it sets off your anxiety
  • Skipping meals when you know it’s going to make you tired and less able to cope
  • Being ‘good’ all week, only to drink 1-2 bottles of wine over the weekend when you know this feeds into other unhealthy behaviours

Sometimes you will recognise that you go through this cycle. But other times, you won't and that is where I come in as your support and guide to identify the pattern for what it is.

 

What can be done?

This is where the missing part of the treatment plan comes into play. If you aren't addressing this pattern, then you won’t be seeing the results you want.

What you need to understand is that you can’t make the unconscious pattern shift simply through a consult with a practitioner and a plan based on the conscious mind. If you continue to tackle health this way, you are at risk of falling off track and deciding that you are a failure, it’s too hard and why should you bother.

The trick here is to assess your unconscious and what is happening in relation to your wellbeing and goals. I do this through Emotion Release Technique (ERT). I use this process to test your beliefs and goals that you are looking to achieve to see if there is any resistance there.

And if there is something holding you back? I address it and release the emotion immediately, so it feels safe for the body to engage in that healthy behaviour or habit.
